Why Check DNS Records?

DNS (Domain Name System) records are the instructions that tell the internet how to handle requests for your domain. Ensuring they are correct is vital for website availability and email delivery.

Common Record Types

  • A Record: Points your domain to the IP address of your web server (IPv4).
  • CNAME: An alias that points one domain to another (e.g., www to root).
  • MX Record: Mail Exchange records that direct emails to your email service provider (like Gmail or Outlook).
  • TXT Record: Used for verification (SPF, Google Site Verification) and security policies.

Updates to DNS records can take some time to propagate worldwide. This tool queries the current state directly to help you debug issues.
